Wow. I am sure people have posted about this book before, but I just finished it last night. I LOVED this book. It was one of the best books I have read this summer. The love story between Henry and Clare was so moving, and I was actually crying (alot!) which I rarely do when reading books!!
Anyone else read this? Thoughts?
Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana are set to play the lead roles in the movie versions. What do you think of that?
Evans
Fantasie
Forzieri
This is my favorite book. I read it two years ago, maybe three? I don't see either actor in these roles, but it's not up to me.
And I totally cried when I read this book, too.
1I can see Rachel McAdams playing Clare, especially Clare in her 20's. I'm not sure what I have seen Eric Bana in so I'm not really sure. I guess he looks kind of like what I would picture Henry to look like.
2I read about 3/4 of the book and had to stop. It is a great idea, but that far into it not much was happening. I couldn't handle any more of the time travelling, i really wanted them to move forward with the story. I did think the love story was very endearing without being creepy (which it had the potential since he was significantly older than she was at times) but it was cute. I think it will actually be a great movie ... soemtimes movies can tell a story better with the visual aspect ... and i have a girl crush on rachel mcadams so i'm def going to see it!
3Eric Bana was the Hulk. Roar!
4rachel mcadams would be perfect for this - i am not sure how well the movie will be though since the book is so long and has so much to it. i hope it'll be great not just good though since i just love this book!!
5This book has been on my "To Read" list for some time, unfortunately. I'll have to make sure to read it before the movie comes out.
6Tdamji, I was thinking the same thing about the length.
Curius Alice - the movie isn't set to come out until 2008, so you can wait if you want to, but I'm telling you - It's worth moving up!!
7This is my next book that I'll be starting any day now- very interesting premise and I am excited about the movie. What does anyone think about the new NBC show Journeyman that kind of sounds like the same premise? I hope this show doesn't take away from the uniqueness of the book by the time the movie comes around-IMO
8I haven't heard of the show Journeyman, Sofi? I also hope it doesn't take anything away.
Let me know what you think when you finish the book!
9this link will give info on Journeyman for whoever may be interested:

Without getting into the book much, are there similarities? If this is loosely based on the book then I don't know how the movie will do if people feel it has already been done on tv- alitlle bit of been there, done that?
I will read the book, watch the show, and go to the movie just because it seems really interesting and I am curious to see how they all come together.
10Sofi,
11From reading over the "about" section of Journeyman, yes there are similarities, but no it doesn't appear to be based on this book. Time Traveler's Wife is more of a love story, whereas Journeyman looks like it will be an overview of all of his experiences as a time traveler, I guess. I am probably biased, but I think the tv show doesn't look that good, LOL.
Loved TTW!! What I really liked about it was although it was a love story, it wasn't overly sappy. Just a great story!
12Agreed, Books and Shoes!
13I loved this book.
14i dont know im not sure about this book, i have mixed emotions about it. i thought the romantic part was enthralling, i liked their connection to an extant eventho at times i felt that the author was keeping them two through sex and then everything else i found that to be somewhat discomforting. i think the premise of the book can be interesting but i found the whole story woven together with time travel somewhat unsettling. but i suppose its a new take on love between two people.
15ok so i so need to purchase this book to read on the plane!
16After reading the first pages, my immediate thought was: Am I going to have to wade through another 500 pages of this?
I think there were two reasons for that.
1) The first person narrative, when it is describing something that is presently happening, is something that I find rather difficult to read in books. I find it much easier when authors use another POV, or write in the past tense. When I got used to it in this book, however, things improved. It helped that the author was consistent in how she wrote it.
2) The jumping back and forth in time. Of course, that is part of the point of the book, but in the first pages I found it a bit confusing. As with the point above, when I kept reading, it also became easier to follow what was happening.
When I finished it, I was left with a "Did I like what I just read, or didn't I?" feeling, because of the points above, but also because of the story itself. But I do think that the story in itself was strong, and I thought the ending was sad, and wonderful and it was an interesting love story… In the end I guess I was more impressed by the book when I was done and had done some thinking about what I'd read, than I was after having read the first ten pages. I've definitely recommended it to friends.
17My favourite book of all time - no questions.
18I LOVED it.
This book was AMAZING i loved it!!
19I would def. recommend this read.
