The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger is one of the best books I've read in a long time.

The plot revolves around Henry, a guy with a strange quirk in his genetic code that makes him travel through time. At unexpected and unpredictable moments, Henry suddenly pops out of his 'present' and into his past or his future. On one of his trips, he meets his wife Claire as a little girl of six. He keeps returning to this time and they develop a close friendship. However, when Claire is 21 and meets Henry in his 'present' he doesn't yet know who she is.

This book has a very interesting premise and it's incredibly romantic and heart-wrenching. It's clear that Henry is Audrey Niffenegger's idea of the perfect guy: He's sweet and romantic, but at the same time a bit of a bad boy.

As I got towards the end of the book, I literally starting bawling... and mind you, I was on a long international flight and the guy sitting next to me kept patting me on the shoulder to make me feel better as I went through tissue after tissue.

Finally, this book has an added bonus for any fan of 80's music - it features the Violent Femmes, Prince and many other favorites!

I give it Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling (i'm getting to be quite the book critic!)
