Need New Books Now
Okay so I just finished all of the Stieg Larsson books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and the Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest, and I loved them. The problem is I am now having great book withdrawal.
Does anyone have any recommends? I'm leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks and laying on the beach without a good book is unacceptable. For that matter so is flying. Or waiting line at the DMV (something I have to do this week).

Post a CommentI am currently reading THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett and am really enjoying it.
I would recommend THE HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET by Jamie Ford, THE SEPTEMBERS OF SHIRAZ by Dalia Sofer, THE SPACE BETWEEN US by Thrity Umrigar, PEOPLE OF THE BOOK by Geraldine Brooks or THE POSTMISTRESS by Sarah Blake.
I am currently reading "love the one you're with" great summer book but anything by Emily Giffin is good. Sophia Kinsela has good summer books to read.
I also loved The Help. I'm currently reading The Invisible Bridge and it is, so far, fantastic.
The Piano Teacher by Janice Lee was great. Commencement by J Courtney Sullivan also good. Kristin Hannah and Elin Hilderbrand do chick lit good for summer reading.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I ended reading Juliet by Anne Fortier which I highly recommend. It's very reminiscent of The Intelligencer by Leslie Silbert. I very much enjoyed the playing with history and literature that they have done. Both books are a fairly easy read. Not Charlaine Harris easy read, but definitely easier than Stieg Larsson.
I also purchased The Help (per everyone's suggestion) and the Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, but spent so much time underwater (scuba diving) that I wasn't able to start reading them.
Fall is coming which means days spent lazing at outdoor cafes, when I'm living on a plane or out of a suitcase for work. So keep those suggestions coming. I purposely fly planes without internet so I can't be reached.
I highly recommend The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I needed something after finishing the Millennium Trilogy, and this series has exceeded my expectations. I read the first two books in 3 days and am now on the waiting list for the final book. They are from the Young Adult section, but don't let that scare you off. They are truly captivating, amazing books.
I also have to recommend One Day by David Nicholls. This books is in my Top 5 list of favorite books. It is relatable and an easy read.
not sure if you like mysteries but the sookie stackhouse novels are REALLY good!
If you like fantasy I greatly recommend the Kushiel's Legacy trilogy by Jacqueline Carey. I mean the first one consisting of Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen and Kushiel's Legacy. It is an amazing series set in a wonderfully complex fantasy world. I normally do not enjoy this genre but these books had me hooked. I picked it up based on the review here:

Hope you enjoy it!

This was one of the best books I have ever read. Afer reading this book it gave me hope and inspiration in my own life. I loved how well written the book was. I loved reading how Rosa was brought up to love everyone and always find good in others. Rosa and her mother were very close and their relationship as a mother and daughter's love for each other was so wonderful and touching. This book inspired me to want to read it again and tell others about it. Rosa's life was hard but her love for her family and frineds have made her who she is today. Rosa is a strong willed woman. When ever I feel low or depressed I will get this book out again and read it for my own support. I love how Rosa never let go of her dreams. I love reading the part how she met her husband. I felt sorry for her when she had to leave her children behind and all the struggles she went through to get them back. I truly give this book ten stars if I could due to it being such an inspirational story.
